Aldorthia Moore Burrell, affectionately known as Dotha, was born August 25, 1943, in Roosevelt City, Alabama to the late Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Annie Mae Files Moore.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined First Baptist Church of Roosevelt City under the leadership of the late Reverend H. M. Morton. She was a member of the Sunday School and Nurses Guild. Later, she joined Bryant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Tommy Hagler.
She was educated in the Jefferson County School System and graduated from Wenonah High School (The Original Bright Star on the Hill). Later, she furthered her education at Booker T. Washington Business College and Lawson State Community College. Dotha spent most of her working years at Vulcan Materials as a clerk. She also was a substitute teacher for the Birmingham City School System, a caregiver for Angel Care, and the neighborhood/community babysitter.
In 1961, she was united in holy matrimony to Walter Ree Burrell, Sr. To this union three children was born.
Aldorthia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Moore; three sisters, Susie Mae Moore, Lue Velma Brooks and Hannah Mae Curry; five brothers, Michael Moore, Rufus Lee Moore, Willie James Moore, Anderson Rufus Moore and Curtis Moore; a greatgranddaughter, Shaqueira Greene; great grandson, Chance Hunter and two fur great grands, Simba Burrell and Icyye Burrell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Audrey D. Burrell, of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Walter R. Burrell, Jr. of Bessemer, AL, Michael D. Burrell of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one greatgreat grandchild, and a fur great-grandson, Alexander Midknight Burrell; one sister, Dorothy Mae Johnson of Jamaica, NY; one brother, Shellie James (Annette) Moore of Fairfield, AL and a host of nieces, nephews and countless other relatives and friends.
