Mrs. Annie Bessie Banks, 98, was born on May 5, 1923, to the late Tom Sims, Sr. and Zolar Scott Sims. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined St. John A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Steward Board. She was a devoted member of her church; always willing to serve in any capacity she could.
Mrs. Banks was educated in the Birmingham City School System; a graduate of A.H. Parker High School in 1941. She was employed with Ousler’s Sandwich Company for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wheeler Banks; daughters, Linda Jean Banks and Jennifer Banks; siblings, Mattie Darnell, Tom Sims, Jr., Mollie Jones, and Barbara Sims Turner. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Veronica Seymour; sister, Lessie Sims; grandchildren, Nilesha Givens, Theodore Solomon, Jr. (Sherree), Shauna Stewart (Fred), Tiffany Banks, and Joel Jackson; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
