Barbara Ann Borom Saxton was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 14, 1952, to the late Charlie Henry Borom, Sr. and Lucile Thornton Borom. To this union, she was the tenth of eleven children.
Barbara made her heavenly transition on Monday, March 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and eight of her siblings.
Barbara accepted Christ at a very young age and was committed to serving Christ throughout her life. She was a faithful member of Gethsemane Ministry Center under the leadership of Pastors Bruce and Electra Adams.
Barbara was educated in the Birmingham City School System and graduated from G. W. Carver High School in 1970. She continued her education at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1974. She was an outstanding educator in Birmingham City Schools for 29 years during which time she primarily taught second grade students at Minor Elementary School. After retirement, Barbara devoted her time to caring for her grandchildren and her garden.
Barbara is survived by her five children, Shawnta L. Owens, Tommy A. Saxton, II, Janeise (Aubrey) Leonard, Brittany A. Saxton and Bessina S. Saxton; eight grandchildren, India J. Saxton, Shamir L. Saxton, Jeremiah N. Saxton, Aaron D. Saxton, Micah A. Saxton, Isaiah N.S. Leonard, Dylan R. Owens, and Imani N.S. Leonard; sister, Jeanie (Charles) Akins; brother, Charles Borom, Jr.; former husband, Tommy A. Saxton, I and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
