Betty Witherspoon

Mrs. Betty Lee Jordan Witherspoon was born August 16, 1932 in Uniontown, Alabama to the late Mrs. Lula Jordan. She attended Perry County Training School. Betty moved to Bessemer, Alabama where a new journey began. She attended St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church. In her later years she joined New Antioch Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Pastor Tony Ware, where she served faithfully until the Lord called her home. Bessemer is where she met and married Randolph Witherspoon. Betty worked in the health care field until retiring after thirty-five years of service at Baptist Health Montclair. She received awards for employee of the month and employee of the year. She was loved by her fellow co-workers and everyone who came in touch with her winning smile. Betty was outgoing and loved traveling. She was soft spoken, woman with few words and she always wore a smile. She was a woman who believed in serving hot home cooked meals. Betty was preceded in death by a loving son, Mr. Gregory Jordan and a brother, Mr. Johnnie Jordan. She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband of sixty-three years, Randolph Witherspoon; three sons, Mr. Clarence Witherspoon, Magnolia, Texas, Nathaniel Witherspoon and Joe Townsend, of Bessemer, AL; one sister, Mrs. Katie Johnson; one brother-in-law, Mr. Jimmie Witherspoon; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Etouise Jordan all of Bessemer, AL; special niece/daughter, Ms. Helen J. Steele; one niece, Mrs. Betty (Tim) Gibbs, Birmingham, AL; one nephew, Mr. Johnnie Johnson, Tampa, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frankie Jordan; five granddaughters, Ms. Terra Jordan, Ms. Chiarita Jordan, Ms. Tameka Jordan, Ms. Renita King, Mrs. Tameka (Quentin) Lee, Ms. Janique Hines, Ms. Bonita Witherspoon; three grandsons, Mr. Cory Croster, Mr. Joe Townsend, Jr. and Mr. Anthony Hutchinson; one godson, Mr. Reginald Taylor, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
