My Queen Bobbie Jean Townsend (Bird) was born November 18, 1954, to Mary Moore and Pete and Lillie Mae Moore.
She attended Dunbar and Hard Elementary Schools and Abrams High School. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal savior under the leadership at Beulah Baptist Church. Bobbie Jean was known to family and friends as Bird. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, family, friends and even strangers she met. She would hold a conversation with them like she had known them all her life. Once upon a time, she was the glue that kept her family together. With little help, she raised a total of ten children including her six and her sister’s four. It wasn’t easy, but Bird made it happen. Either of the ten children today will tell you, they never went to bed hungry. On a daily, she kept about seven pots on the stove. She even kept dessert too, whether it was homemade cake or pie or whatever she struck up. Later in her life, she married the love of her life, Mr. Curtis Townsend. On Friday, December 20, 2023, at 12:10 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, Bobbie accepted God’s free gift of eternal life. She was preceded in death by her two mothers, Lillie Mae Moore and Mary Moore; grandfather, Willie Pete Moore; her son, Carson Townsend; her grandson, Vondera Wrencher and her mother and father, Law Amanda and Bill Townsend,
Jessica Townsend and aunt, Helen.
