Bobby Lee Perkins

Bobby Lee Perkins was born to the late Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Sallie Perkins on September 24, 1945, in Columbus, Mississippi.

At a young age, Bobby confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. He united with the First Baptist Church Ninth Street and remained a life-long member.

He was educated in the Jefferson County Public School system. In 1965, he became a proud graduate of Brighton High School. In 1968, he went on to pursue a military career in the United States Army and soon afterwards married Annie Pearl Gaines. They started a family and remained united in matrimony until he departed this life.

Bobby's military career flourished. He became Staff Sergeant Bobby Lee Perkins. He served in both Vietnam and Desert Storm Conflicts. His bravery during combat and service did not go unnoticed. He was decorated with many honors. Vietnam Service Medals with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, and many professional development honors. After extensive training and professional experience, Bobby became a sharpshooter for the U.S. Army. Afte serving his country for 32 years, he hung up his boots and retired to civilian life.

Bobby did not rest on his laurels. After his military tours he started careers at Stockham Valves and then subsequently at U. S. Pipe where he worked for 13 years before retiring from the Bessemer Plant. His work ethic served as a great example for his sons.

His grandchildren and his family were his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Edward and Rickey Perkins; three sisters, Ernestine Mitchell, Joyce Ann Perkins and Dorothy Hudson; two grandchildren, Courtney Hill and Britney Hill Jones.

Bobby leaves memories to be cherished and kept alive by a loving wife, Annie Pearl Perkins; three sons, Cedric Perkins, Vincent (Connie) Perkins and Darien Perkins; grandchildren, Simone (Chris) Harris, Quiton Hill, Dariel Perkins, Damon, Leim, Achilles and Kamron Perkins and Sean Jenkins; great grandchildren, Kevin, Caleb, Ashton, Gianah, Lauren, Skylar, Aubrey, Autumn, and Camelo; siblings, Betty Jean Bailey, Louis (Edward) Pryor and Eddie Mae Perkins; two brothers-in-law, Moses (Sallie) Gaines and Eziah Gaines and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
