Carloss (C.J.) Sumpter, Jr., a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend was born on July 17, 2003, to Carloss Sumpter and Paris Scott.
At an early age, he confessed to Christ and was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Victor L. Hawkins, Sr.
C.J. was a proud graduate in the Class of 2021 from Bessemer City High School. Additionally, he was a devoted and outstanding employee at Town and Country Ford.
A defifining part of his life was his love for sports, especially basketball. He also found joy in dancing, breeding dogs, spending time at the barn riding horses and proudly riding with the Lowetown Riderz. With a keen eye for fashion, he was always well-dressed, carrying himself with confifidence.
His outgoing personality was a TRUE TESTAMENT to both parents. ThThey were blessed beyond measure with a young man who was kind-hearted and lived life with intent. His infectious smile was captivating.
Beyond his outgoing personality, he was loyal, trustworthy, funny, high spirited, and amiable. His love for life was indicative of the choices he made to surround himself with those who loved him and realized his worth.
C.J.'s relationship with his mom was treasured and he was a beloved mama's boy. Although she loved him to the moon and back, she also provided discipline and structure. He knew that and respected not just her but all elders. ThThe love and affffection shared between them was priceless. Anyone who knows Paris also knows how she went to the ends of the earth and back to provide him with stable beliefs in God, morals and standards. She led by example and he followed. He was an infifinite love that was sacred between the two of them.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Vickie W. Scott; his great grandparents, Sarah Scott, Annie Dove Jenkins, L.T. Scott, Sr., Israel Nunn, Sr. and Luther Hicks; his aunt, Yolanda Walker and his brother, Keontay Sumpter.
Cherishing his many precious memories and mourning his passing is his beloved parents, Paris Scott, his loving mother; Carlos Sumpter, his devoted father; grandparents, Gregory (Nancy) Scott, Yvonne (Jerry) Sumpter and Charles Monroe; his great grandmother, Henrietta Nunn; sisters, Kiara Sumpter, LaNyah Nelson and Camiya McCary; brothers, Deytwan Palmore, Ken'Tavias Soles, Keontez Sumpter, and Camron Sumpter; aunts, Chinissa (Jason) White, Tamela Holmes, Metrice Holmes, Colette (Earl) Monroe-Shakespeare, Maria (Micah) Brown, Viridiana Rodriguez and Saralee Scott, uncles, Frank Sumpter, Antonio Sumpter and Charles Monroe, Jr. and a host of cousins, friends, other relatives and loved ones.
