Mr. Carter Strother, Jr. was born on September 12, 1947, to the late Theresa S. Pitts and Carter Strother, Sr. in Uniontown, Alabama.
Carter accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
"Jr. and Rabbit" as he was so affectionately known as, became a true Bessemer native. He attended and graduated from G. W. Carver High School and Bessemer State Technical College receiving multiple certificates.
With his skills and knowledge for 30 years, he worked his way up to supervisor in the industrial industry at U.S. Pipe in Bessemer, Alabama. Finally, he retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Carter was an outstanding asset to the community. He would fix, build and/or repair things out of the kindness of his heart.
He was a faithful member at Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor William Scott. Carter was a faithful, devoted and active servant of the Lord. He served diligently as a member of the Men's Sunday School Class, Usher Ministry #1, and the Security Ministry.
Carter loved spending quality time with family from helping Tre' with his trucking company; HD Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair, LLC, to being an influential part of his grandchildren's life.
Carter was also a loyal member of G.W. Carver High School Alumni Association in Bessemer, Alabama.
On October 27, 2025, Jr. Strother passed away peacefully at his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Naylan Harris (Bubba); two sisters, Diane McWillie and Kathryn Wynn.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his daughter, Jacqueline (Karl) Tabb; his grandchildren, Naylan, Tre' Simpson, Karl, Jr., Cameron Tabb, Naylan, Jr., Remie, Aisha, Jasmine, Alexis and Edeidra; two loving sisters, Lucile Miller of Birmingham, AL, Doris Green of Fort Wayne, IN, Sharon Whitfield (sister/cousin) of Bessemer, AL and John (Manuela) Strowder of Bessemer, AL.
He was a man of few words, soft spoken with a big heart. He washelpful to everyone and never met a stranger; "a gentle giant".
