Clara Belcher Thompson was born in Tuscaloosa County to the late Henry and Alice H. Belcher. She was the youngest of fourteen siblings. Clara married the late Joe Thompson in1946. She was the mother of six sons, two daughters and her best friend/ step daughter Hattie L. Turner. She was preceded in death by: son, David Thompson and daughter, Alice Thompson-Dunn. At an early age Clara accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She united with the Church of God in 1953. Sister Thompson remained a faithful and dedicated member of Roosevelt Church of God until her death on September 3, 2015. Clara's favorite hobbies were reading, writing and showing off her children, grandchildren, great grands, nieces and nephews pictures. She love them ALL!! Her most cherished words were: " I can say, if a large family would make one rich, I would be a millionaire!!!" Her affectionate memories will remain with: children, Carol (Rufus) Head, Hattie L. Turner, Joe Nathan, Andrew, Frederick (Vanessa), Jesse (Janice) and Jerry (Francis) Thompson; thirty-eight grandchildren; eighty-one great grandchildren; forty-six great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was fondly known as: Clara Thompson, MaMa, grandma, MiMi, Doll, Babygirl, Aunt Doll, Miss Doll, Miss Clara, Sis Doll and Grandma Doll. A scripture that mirrored her life is found in Matthew 5:16: " Let your light shine that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
