Classie Spidle

Sister Classie Bell Moore Spidle was the first child born to the union of Mr. Jeremiah Moore and Mrs. Oralean Crawley Moore on May 9, 1927 in McDowell, Alabama. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Palestine Baptist Church, McDowell, AL under the leadership of Rev. C.C. Ellis. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Campha Spidle on December 21, 1941. To this union eight children were born, one of which preceded them in death at three months, Glenda Elaine. She relocated to Brighton, AL and attended Shiloh Baptist and later united with Mars Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.L. Starkey. She enjoyed singing and became a member of the choir. She moved her membership to 21st Street Baptist Church South Bessemer and was an active member of the choir and in recent years united with Zion Hill Baptist where she remained until her death. Sister Spidle departed this life on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. Left to cherish her memories: sons, Setrett (Sharon) Spidle, Sr. and Wayne (Lillie V) Spidle; daughters, Deloris S. Holmes, Lanette (Homer Sam) George, Joyce S. Thomas, Bernice S. Thomas and Sandra S. Moore; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Leroy Moore, Joseph (Sue) Moore and Joe Townsend; sisters, Olivia Bizzel, Oralean (Clarence) Sumpter, Bettie Green, Barbara (Charlie) Jones and Belinda Cleveland; brothers-in-law, Lovie Spidle, Jr. and Simon (Annie) Spidle; special goddaughters, Emma Williams, Minnie Reeves, Natalie Dawson, Doretha Hill and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
