Courte'nay Pierre Dufermeau

Courte'ney Pierre Dufermeau known to many as "Blacc", was born January 19, 1983, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the beloved son of Reginald and Valerie Watkins.

Courte'nay grew up in Bessemer with his parents and siblings whom he loved unconditionally. He later shared an unbreakable bond with his daughter, Kamiya "Cookie" Dufermeau who was the apple of his eye and a true daddy's girl.

He received his education through the Bessemer City School system. He was a part of the Class of 2002 from Jess Lanier High School.

Courte'nay was a cherished devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Known for his smile, laugher, and sense of humor to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was filled with kindness, generosity and compassion for others through his faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Courte'nay transitioned to his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Louis Dufermeau of the Republic of Haiti; daughter, Kamiya Marie Dufermeau "Cookie"; grandparents, Simmie (Corine) Roberson and Charles (Doris) Watkins; uncle, Simmie Roberson, Jr.; brother, Tavares "Pap" Johnson; cousins, James "Loc" Miller, Jaloria "CoCo" Miller, Vincent "Big Boy" Roberson, Jr., all of Bessemer, AL and Frank "Ty" Banks, Jr. of Gary, Indiana.
