Our beloved Cynthia Faye Scott was born on November 8, 1951, to Albert and Josephine Brooks Scott of Bessemer, Alabama. At an early age, she confessed Christ. For decades she faithfully served as a dedicated member of Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church and was devoted to many church and community related projects.
Cynthia early years of education were achieved through the Bessemer City School system. Her career goals led her to further her education and she successfully earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. For many years, before retiring, she was a dedicated College Administrator with the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Cynthia excelled in and treasured every aspect of life that would allow her to flourish. She was awarded for her commitment by numerous organizations: 1992 Graduate of the Project Corporation Leadership Program, 1997 YMCA Black Achievers Program, Official Miss Alabama Preliminary Judge, President of the 10% Foundation, Project Director of the Bessemer Ordinary People Society, 2003 Presenter at Clemson University Best Practices in Black Student Achievement and the 2008 UAB President Diversity Award Recipient. In addition, she developed for UAB, the Multicultural Scholars Program, Blazer Male Excellent Network, First Year Program, Minority Association of PreHealth Students and Online Success Seminars. Additionally, there were numerous other board assignments and community service activities as well.
On Monday, February 28, 2022, Cynthia was granted her wings by her Lord and Savior. As she approached the pearly gates, she was surrounded by many predeceased loved ones: her loving parents, Albert and Josephine Brooks Scott; her sister, Laura Scott Dallas; paternal grandparents, Sheffield and Mary Brooks, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Scott and cousin, Johnny Brooks.
Memories of our beloved Cynthia will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved her and those she loved especially her brother-in-law, Jerry Dallas; nieces and nephews, Tamara Scott, Tiffany Dallas and Reginald Dallas; great nieces and great nephews, Jacquese A. Scott, Reginald Dallas, Jr. and Jacory Dallas and friends and associates.
