Della G. Scott

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Della G. Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community. Della's warm and compassionate spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully entered eternal rest on February 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Della was born on November 6, 1940, in Pine Grove, Alabama, to her late parents, Annie B. Gibbs and John W. Gibbs. As a devoted mother, she always placed her children at the center of her world.

From a young age, Della's strong faith guided her path. Embracing the teachings of Christ, she was baptized at the age of 10 under the loving guidance of Sister Gant's Bible Training Union at Beulah Baptist Church. Faith remained a constant source of comfort and inspiration throughout her life, and she later became a dedicated member of Kingdom Christian Church, where she found solace and community.

Della's pursuit of knowledge led her to Dunbar High School, where she completed her high school education. With a hunger for academic growth, she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Math, with a minor in English, from Miles College. Her thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and she continued her educational journey, working towards a Masters at Auburn University.

A passionate educator, Della spent her career inspiring young minds and shaping the future. She had an unwavering commitment to her students, ensuring they received the education they deserved. Starting her career at 15th St Praco High School, she later worked at Bottenfield High School in the Jefferson County School System. Della's unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds led her to teaching positions at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, Ensley High School, and Cornerstone High School. Her teaching impacted countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Della's creativity and love for writing were evident in her daily life. She found solace in penning her thoughts and sharing her insights with others. Whether it was through scripture or personal anecdotes, Della had a gift for expressing herself in a profoundly impactful way.

Her devotion to her faith was unwavering, as she found solace and strength in her church, Kingdom Christian Center. Della's generous spirit extended to her tithing and unwavering involvement in the ministry. She exemplified Christian values through her acts of kindness and service to others.

Outside of her work and ministry, Della cultivated a love for music, sewing, and quilting. She found joy in being surrounded by melodies that spoke to her soul and delighted in the process of creating beautiful quilts. Della also had a penchant for watching classic TV shows, including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Matlock, Murder She Wrote, Perry Mason, and the inspiring messages on the TBN ministry station.

Della will be deeply missed by her children, Dennis, Jesse, Deanna, Kimberly, Kyng, and Stephen, along with her cherished grandchildren, Jabari, Jaden, Jesseca, Chase, Sterling, Yani, Zoe, Devin, Brandi, Kyng Adonis, Koyre G., Kyng LJ, Akeia, Stephen Jr.;  three great grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends, who will always cherish her precious memory. Her love and influence will continue to guide and inspire them throughout their lives.

A celebration of Della's life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Laura Chambers Chapel. As we come together to honor and remember this incredible woman, let us reflect on the impact she made in our lives and be grateful for the time we were blessed to share with her. Della's memory will forever live on in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Della's honor to Kingdom Christian Center.  https://www.kingdomchristiancenter.net
