Elizabeth King

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Hicks Rollins King, was born September 29, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to the union of Mr.& Mrs. Otha Hicks (Zelda). After Zelda's divorce from Mr. Hicks, she remarried Mr. Alfred Steadman. At that point, Elizabeth lived with her mother, stepfather, and her three sisters, until 1958 when their mother died. After their mother's death Elizabeth was adopted by her maternal grandmother (Mrs. Ruth Rollins). Mrs. King attended and graduated from Wenonah High School "Class of 1966", where she was crowned the title as Wenonah's Homecoming Queen. On June 11, 1967, Ms. Elizabeth Ann Hicks Rollins joined in Holy matrimony to Mr. Johnny L. King, Jr. From this union, two sons were born. The first born, Johnny L. King III was born to Mrs. King on her birthday September 29- in the year of 1967. The second born, Vince Alexander (Cush) King was born on April 10, 1970. Mrs. King confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savor, at an early age under the tutorage of her grand mother (Mrs. Ruth Rollins) who was a piano teacher. Mrs. Rollins also played the piano for The First Baptist Church Choir in Roosevelt City, Alabama. As an adult, Mrs. King continued her dedication to the Lord, and was a God fearing, saved Christian. She attended church regularly and she served as one of the "Church Mothers". Mrs. King worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for over twenty years of dedicated service in two major cities; Chicago, Illinois and Birmingham, Alabama. She continued this dedication until she became ill, and unable to work in 2009. She worked for "Nurse-Finders" The Professional Choice, and at "Always There" In-Home Care, Inc." Mrs. King lived a balanced life where she had a combination of "Touch Love" and "Tender Love". She could put you back on the path of righteousness, if you took her kindness for weakness. Mrs. King loved life with a tender heart, and she will always be remembered for being a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, sister-in-law, friend, and a God fearing woman. I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if you believe that Jesus died and rose again, even as them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. I Thessalonians 4:13-14
