August 19, 1942 — July 20, 2020

Fannie Brown

Fannie P. Brown was born on August 19, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. John and Pearl
Mason.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was united with the New Bethel Baptist
Church in the Brownsville community under the pastorage of Reverend H.H. Hall. She later became a
faithful member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served in the Matrons and the Missionary
Society.
After graduating from Wenonah High School, she obtained a nursing degree from Jefferson State
Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. She began her nursing career at UAB West, formerly
Bessemer Carraway Hospital, where she was employed as a registered nurse for over 25 years. During
her tenure as an RN, she touched the lives of patients, friends, and relatives with love, hope, and charity.
An anointed woman of God who truly loved her family, she was passionate about helping others,
sharing her faith, and imparting sound wisdom from the Word of God. She loved to read daily from the
book of Proverbs. As a dedicated servant of the Lord, her legacy as a strong and selfless wife, mother,
sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend will always be remembered.
She departed this life on July 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by daughter Wanda Jordan, brothers
Samuel, Herbert, Willie, and John Mason, sisters Mary Moore and Margaret Mason. She leaves to
cherish her memories: a devoted husband of sixty-one years, John H. Brown; sons Wayne Brown
(LaVonda), John Brown, daughter Phyllis Brown; sisters Marie Little, Mildred Smith, brother Nathaniel
Mason (Bettye); nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
