Mr. Gerald Benton was born on October 20,1956 in Pittsburgh, PA to Elijah Carter and Beatrice Benton (Ross). Today we celebrate his life.
Gerald Benton graduated from Peabody High School in 1975 and joined Pittsburg National Guard in 1975. He moved to Alabama in the late 1970’s to continue to serve in the National Guard Army until when he retired after serving 30 years. He had a variety of jobs such as Russell County Sheriff Department, U.S. Pipe and Steel in Bessemer but his true passion was being a truck driver. He was extremely proud when he was hired by United Johnson Brothers. He was employed there over 8 years.
He departed this life on Monday November, 8,2021.
He was preceded in death by: father, Elijah Carter.
He leaves behind: wife, Kim Benton; step-son, Julius Spencer; sons, John Sanders (Rebecca) and Jermaine Benton (Stephanie); daughter, Chermaine White (Eugene) by Linda Benton; brother, Claude Benton (Bessie); sister, Debra Anderson; father-in-law, Leroy O’Hara Jr.; brother-in-law, Cedric O’Hara (Maria); sisters-in-law, Daphne Walker and Jocelyn O’Hara; and a host of nieces, nephew, grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
