Brother Herbert Dunn, Jr. was born on May 23, 1934, in Greensboro (Hale County), Alabama. He was the son of the late Hubert, Sr. and Frances Dunn of Bessemer, Alabama.
In his Christian home, he learned early in life his personal path of duty and confessed hope in Christ at an early age. Later moving to Bessemer, Alabama in 1937, he united in fellowship with the Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend W. F. Agee, who was succeeded by Reverend B. B. Strowder and currently, Reverend William E. Scott. Brother Dunn faithfully served with the combined choir and building committee.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Martha Robertson on May 2, 1958, in Bessemer, Alabama. They shared a life of togetherness for 64 years, where this union was blessed with five wonderful children.
Brother Dunn was employed with S.H. Kress for several years, UAB and The United Mine Workers of Alabama until retirement.
Brother Dunn peacefully exchanged time for eternity at home on Monday, August 5, 2024. He quietly moved into his last great adventure. He worked overtime in this life and now he has entered a long-awaited rest in the arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Martha Dunn; father, Hubert Dunn, Sr.; mother, Frances Dunn; two brothers, Gilbert and Paul Dunn; two sisters, Leola Garrett and Louise Abraham; two sons, Herbert Dunn and Roderick Dunn.
