With our Heavenly Father by her side, our dearly Beloved transitioned to her eternal life. Our
phenomenal Joanne "Bo" Williams was born to the late Mary Francis Williams and Luther Williams, Sr.
on September 7, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her
Lord and Savior. Her profound spiritual journey proceeded upward from childhood with her loving
mother and caring siblings through to adulthood with her two daughters and their children. She
was a faithful member of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in her early adulthood and later became a
devoted member at Faith Chapel Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael K. Moore where she
faithfully worked in the Children's Ministry.
Our beloved Joanne grew up in West Highlands along with her family. She was raised in a loving
home with her affectionate and caring siblings and their loving and nurturing mother who was her
hero.
Joanne received her early education through the West Highlands School system. She then
graduated from Brighton High School in 1967. Additionally, she was a dedicated worker at UAB
Hospital for many years and later retired early. She then found her calling as a private sitter nurturing
the elderly where she thrived and found much enjoyment in her craft. One of her greatest and most cherished gifts in her lifetime was her incredible love for her family. Family meant everything to our Beloved She would always have family gatherings at her home celebrating joyous occasions. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her family and friends as this made her heart full. She truly loved all her siblings and she cherished every moment she had with all of them. Another cherished moment was her love of being a wife and mother. She married Ollis
Thompson.
On Sunday, May 14, 2023, God led Joanne through the path of righteousness to eternal life to be with
her mother, Mary Francis Williams; her father, Luther Williams Sr.; her sister, Louise (Finest)
Jackson; her brother, Luther, Jr. (Willie Belle) Williams; her sister, Elsie (Reginald) Walker; her sister, Doris Mae Williams; her sister Thelma (Lonnie, Sr.) Mitchell and her brother, The Reverend Timothy (Iola) Williams.
Cherishing her precious memories are those she loved. Her kindness and generosity are values
that she leaves with those that loved her. Her precious legacy will live on through Ollis and their two daughters, Torey and Tonya; her devoted grandchildren, Mikayla, Matthew, Courtney, and Sydney; her sweet great granddaughter, Kaysie Marie; her loving sisters, Ovetta (Charles) Richardson, Loretta (Sylvester) Richardson,
and D. McClain; a host of loving nieces and nephews, special friends, other relatives, friends, and those she loved and those who loved her.
