Kim Renee Pearson was born on November 16, 1959, in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Sidney Matthews and Mattie Louise Pearson Pace. Renee, as she was affectionately known, transitioned out of this life on January 26, 2026, at 6:55 a.m.
Renee confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church Old Jonesboro in Bessemer, Alabama under the leadership of Reverend W. C. Ward. She later became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, South Bessemer, under the leadership of Pastor Homer E. Hayes, where she remained faithful until her health failed.
As a dedicated servant of God, Renee served as a Sunday School teacher, assistant Superintendent, Deaconess, Evangelist, Leader of the Children's Ministry, which was renamed The Kim Pearson Youth Sunday School Class.
Renee was a graduate of Hueytown High School, Class of 1978 and Jacksonville State University, Class of 1982, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology as her Major and Social Work as her Minor. She worked in Green Pond, Alabama until her health failed.
Renee was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Matthews; her mother, Mattie Louise Pearson Pace; and her daddy, Joyce A. Pace (Snook).
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Errius (Jay Man) Pearson; her grandchildren, Drayden and Eri'Yahna Pearson; her siblings, Roderick Gardner (Sheree), Staci Blackmon (Brandon), Sidney Matthews, III, Sherman Pearson (Sandra Faye), Maurice Pace, Sr. (Sabrina), Glenn Pace, Sr. (Nina), David Pace (Lelia), Shelia Pearson Moss (James), Katherine Pace Warren, Essie Pace Acevedo (Anibal), and Porsche Pace; her special friends, Teresa Henderson, Vickie Sawyer, Brenda Law, Mildred Posey and Patricia Thompson; her special sister-in-law, Glenda Smith Pace; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends along with her church family, First Missionary Baptist Church, South Bessemer.
