Obituary Loleté Gail Dew Wilson was born on October 3, 1958 in Bessemer, Alabama. After confessing hope in Christ, Loleté was baptized and joined Bethel Baptist Church where she served in several ministries - Audio Visual, Missionary Society, Matrons’, and the Walking Ministry. Loleté began her education at Robertstown Elementary and Dunbar Elementary School. She attended Jackson S. Abrams High School and graduated in 1977. She furthered her education at Birmingham Southern College and in 1981 received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree. She was a charter member of the Nu Delta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Birmingham Southern College. She received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1983. She began her teaching career at St. Mary’s Catholic School and later began teaching at Lincoln Middle and then Wilkerson Middle School in which she won the Teacher of the Year for the 2000-2001 school year. She was a member of the Birmingham Education Association, Alabama Education Association and National Education Association. She served on several committees during her years of teaching. She retired after 30 years of teaching.
