Mable Louise Lewis Carter

Mable Louise Lewis was born on May 1, 1935 in Moundville, AL to loving parents Josephine and Arthur Beard Sr. Her parents relocated to Bessemer, Alabama. Mable grew up as a loving and sweet child. She joined the Saint Peter Primitive Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama as a young child. She then became a beautiful young lady that loved to sing, cook and lived to make people in the community smile. On February 5, 1976, Mable married the love of her life, Charles Wesley Carter. They shared many wonderful years together util his passing on July 30, 1995. She was a member of the Southern Echoes Quartet Group and loved singing praises unto God.

She later joined the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Bessemer, Alabama. In her latter years she attended the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Pratt City where her only Son, Dr. Tommie Lewis was the pastor. After his Pastoral retirement from Bethel, she came back home and rejoined her home church, Shady Grove, the church she grew up in. She attended Shady Grove until her health begin to fail.

Memories of her life will be cherished by her loving and only son, Dr. Tommie (Minister Joyce) Lewis Sr.; Grandson Tommie (Alexia) Lewis Jr.; Great Grandchildren, Tommie III, Bri and Kyler.; One brother John Goodwin of Los Angeles, CA; Two nieces Kareena and Sherry; Four nephews Arthur III, Robert, Ronald, Roderick and a host of cousins, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her late loving husband, Charles W. Carter; parents Josephine and Arthur Beard, Sr.; Sisters Francis and Jessie; Brothers Sam and Arthur II.
