Mrs. Mary Smith Price affectionately known as "Ella Mae", was born on April 28, 1939, in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Joe Smith and Rebecca Smith. She departed this life Monday, December 8, 2025, at home surrounded by love in Birmingham, Alabama. She was youngest of thirteen children. She often told stories about her sister, Mattie and her going to the railroad tracks to pick up coal to warm up the home.
At an early, Mary confessed Christ at Pettaway Church. She attended Abrams before meeting the love of her life, Mr. Clarence James Prices, Sr. They were blessed with three children from this union.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. As the years progressed, she always testified, "God will take care of you" and that "He is an Almighty God".
She enjoyed, "going down by the way" and working countless hours in her yard. She would plant and pull weeds and had no issue blessing you out. She was a mother to us all and had a strong belt-hand to prove it. Early Saturday mornings were filled with Sam Cooke, and she prepared to clean for the day.
Her legacy will continue through her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, Sr.; sons, Robert and Clarence, Jr.; grandsons, Timothy and Joshua, and all her siblings and other cherished loved ones and friends.
Her memories will forever be cherished by her daughter, Dianne (Sir Alonzo) Haywood; daughter-in-love, Elizabeth Price; grandsons, Lewis Bryant, Clarence, III (Jeanetter) Price and Matthew Price; granddaughters, Tamia (Marcus) Washington, Mary (Demitrius) Leonard and Kawanna (Luke) Johnson; nine great grandsons, six great granddaughters, two great-great grandsons, and three great-great granddaughters; three sister-in-law, Stella Long, Sadie (Leo) Atkinson and Rudine Harrisas well as a host of nieces and nephews, along with other cherished relatives.
