Patricia Burney

Patricia Ann Fletcher Burney, born September 22, 1944 to the late Loin Fletcher Sr. and Ida Mae Dixie Fletcher, in Bessemer, Alabama. Patricia was the baby of 5 siblings; Louis Peter Fletcher, Othelia Tyree, Loin Fletcher Sr. and Albert Fletcher, all preceded her in death.
Patricia confessed hope in Christ at the New Bethlehem Baptist Church under the late Pastor J. F. Steele. She served as member of the Sanctuary Choir, Youth Director and Medical ministry.
Patricia was educated in the Bessemer School System and a graduate of J. D. Abrams High School, class of 1962. Afterwards, she attended Lawson State Community College where she graduated as a License Practical Nurse (LPN). Patricia was employed in the healthcare field for 38 years with Jefferson County Health Department being her place of retirement. Also, while employed, she was the caregiver to both her father and mother and served as a medical resource for many.
She was well known and loved my all. In March 2000, Patricia united in matrimony to Devania Burney. A few years later, she began to worship with him at 6th Avenue Beulah Baptist Church, where Aaron Johnson was the pastor. Patricia loved the Lord and loved learning the word of God.
Patricia was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. On February 17, 2022, Patricia’s cycle of life came to a peaceful eternal rest. Her memories will be cherished by her husband, Devania Burney; daughter, Kimberly Walker Sanders; grandson, Donnell Sanders Jr.; childhood sister/friend, Bettie J. Carey (Riviera Beach, FL); special cousin, Brenda “Bunchie” Robinson; bonus sons, Raynard King and Devania Rasberry (Oklahoma City, OK); host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends.
