Obituary Paul Williams was born August 12, 1952 to Mr. Sylvester and Mrs. Lucille Williams. He confessed Christ at an early age, but as he grew in grace he decided to recommit his life to our Lord and Savior in 1989 under the leadership of his beloved Pastor William H. Walker, Sr. at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama. Paul spent his formative years at Carver. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and later attending Bessemer State Technical School receiving several certificates. Paul was a dedicated and hardworking man at a time when the market was slow. To ensure his family was taken care of he worked at Kopper’s, Barber’s Milk and U.S. Steel eventually retiring from U.S. Steel. He is preceded in death: by: wife, Jacquelyn Williams; daughter, Zaundra Thornton; parents, Sylvester and Lucille Williams; brother, Leonard Williams. Paul was reunited in holy matrimony to Marilyn Waller in May 2015. Left to cherish his memories: loving wife, Marilyn Williams; devoted son, Paul (Melissa) Williams, Jr.; five grandchildren, Jasmine Thornton, Makenna, Morgan, Isaiah and Macy Williams; sweet sister, Beatrice Marsh; protective big brother, Sylvester “Skip” Williams; stepson, Lonnie Waller; three sisters-in-law, Evalyn (Oscar) Williams, Carolyn Johnson and Claudia Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
