Rosetta Powell

Rosetta Caffie Powell was the only child born to the late Willa Steadman Caffie and Willie Caffie June 9, 1939. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Second Avenue Beulah Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama where she served as a member of the choir. Later in life she had a daughter Aquadetta Joyce Mahone who preceded her in death. On June 29, 1963 she joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Reverend Eddie Lee Powell, Sr. and to this union five children were born. In the late 1980’s Rosetta joined the First Baptist Church of Hueytown under the leadership of Reverend R.S. Baker and Pastor Charles Wayne Thompson, Sr. where she served as a choir member and a Deaconess wife until her health began to fail in 2009.   Through her struggles of life she departed her earthly home on August 28, 2016 at East Glenn Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Angela Orr, Birmingham, AL, Belinthia Jones, Birmingham, AL, Lavatta Baker, Birmingham, AL and Dermeatria Gaston, Hueytown, AL; three stepdaughters, Wilma Fields, Boston, MA, Shirley Powell, Birmingham, AL and Rosemary Bennett, Birmingham, AL; two sons, Garrick Powell, Hueytown, AL and Reginald Powell, Birmingham, AL; three stepsons, Eddie Lee Powell, Jr., Birmingham, AL, Leon Powell, Boston, MA and Gregory Powell, Madison, WI; 24 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; close family friend, Sabrina Perkins and a host of loving friends.
