Sebastian Bester

Sebastian Mark Bester (aka RUFFUS) was born January 24, 1970 in Bessemer Alabama (AL) to Betty Jean Bester and Frank Thomas, both who preceded him in death. He was the baby boy of Betty Bester’s eight (8) children. As a child, Ruffus attended James Davis Elementary School and then Jess Lanier High School, where he graduated and received a full football scholarship to Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi. During his college years, he was unfortunately injured while playing football and returned home to rest and recuperate around family.
Ruffus held several jobs during his employment years. He most loved his job as a Truck Driver for Ryder. He was a quiet but friendly person who was very supportive and loyal to his close friends and family.

He leaves to celebrate his life and mourn his passing, a wife, Tamika M. Wilson Bester; daughter, Caryln Bester and grandson, Aiden Henderson . Stepson Cordell Hamilton Jr. & Taron Luster (Pleasant Grove). He leaves his eldest brother, Ernest (Fay)Bester; sister and close friend, Amy Bester; sisters Theresa Bester, Toni (Don) Bester; as well as brothers Ricky Bester and Johnnie Bester. Brothers and sisters on his dad side Willie(Mary)Duncan, Frank(Lilian) Duncan, Bonita(Fred)Goines, Frankie Mae Hudson, Dorothy Mines, Charles Thomas, George Thomas, Clarence(Bertha)Thomas, Timothy Thomas,Orlando(Pearle) Thomas, Shelia Thomas. Additionally, two uncles, Joe Bester (GA)and Clifford (Irene)Thomas; and several aunts Ada Knotts, Bernice Wren, Gonzell Bynum. Mother and Father in Law Mattie & Donald Wright (Graysville, AL), Sister and Brother in law Shanitka & Manitonia Grant (Lipscomb, AL), Kanesha & Donald Fuller (Midfield, AL), TiShaundra & Donald Wilson (Midfield, AL). As well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends. He was also very close to his mentor, Sonny Sparks who he spoke with almost daily.
Over the last few years, our beloved Rufus experienced some major health challenges but remained active and hopeful through it all. He loved to fish, drive his sling shot, and spend time with family and friends. He rarely complained about his health issues and tried to live life to the fullest until he could no longer do so.
On Sunday, June 12th, Ruffus answered his heavenly Father’s call to come to his eternal home. He peacefully slept away surrounded by his wife, sisters and nieces at the hospital. He has now received his wings and has joined his mother and deceased older brother, Tom Bester, Leon Thomas, Allen Thomas and Sylvester Thomas Sr. in heaven. Ruffus will truly be missed by those he left behind. May he rest in grace and heavenly peace!
