Mrs. Thelma J. Hill was born on Monday, July 26, 1937, in Ashland, Alabama, to LM and Nora Adair. She was called home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2025, at the age of 88. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker and neighbor. She was also a devoted wife to the late Harry Hill, and they raised two kids.
Thelma Jean's life journey began in the fields of Alabama, where, as a child, she worked on the farm with her family and father, L.M. Adair, a sharecropper. In Clay County, Alabama, she learned the value of hard work and perseverance, toiling the land alongside her family. Her journey eventually led her to San Antonio, Texas, where she continued to dedicate herself to providing for her family. She worked at a "fluff and fold" laundry owned by her sister, Johnny May, and later served the community through her work with the Army Air Force Exchange Service while married to her husband, Harry Hill. From her early days as a child laborer to her later years in San Antonio, Thelma Jean exemplified a tireless commitment to her family and a strong sense of responsibility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hill, her parents, LM and Nora Adair as well as several siblings, CM Smith, Otis Smith, Sid Adair, Johnny Mae Thomas, Lunell Benjamin, Annie Lois Thomas, Corene Adair and Henry Lewis Adair, Sr, and her granddaughter Jennifer Mundt.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth Wayne Hill, Laronda Jean Hill-Lee and Janice Tucker, a host of grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and fiends.
