Vera Hamilton

June 7, 1955 – May 9, 2017 Vera Joyce (“Sister”) Hamilton, age 61, passed away on Monday.  Sister was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, graduate of Ensley High School (1974) and a proud and active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Lynda Gurley Hamilton.  She is survived by her dad, George Hamilton of Pleasant Grove, sister and brother-in-law Marti and Glenn Sandifer of Gordo and brother and sister-in-law David and Rebecca Hamilton of Pleasant Grove, nephews Michael (Brandy) Hamilton, Matthew (Courtney) Hamilton and Caleb Sandifer, niece Madison (Joe) Taylor and great nephews and nieces Eli Hamilton, Sarah Hamilton, Jackson Hamilton and Savannah Hamilton.  Visitation will be Saturday, May 13 at Bethel Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until noon followed immediately by the funeral service.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Chambers Funeral Home in Bessemer directing.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children/Youth programs at Bethel Baptist Church.
