Wanda “Honey” Ashford entered this world on March 30, 1961 to Willetta and Elisha Ashford. She was happily welcomed by eight older siblings. Later, she took the role as big sister to two younger sisters.
She was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church Brighton, at an early age where she worked diligently and was later employed as Church Clerk. Her latter years were spent as a member of Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church Brighton, where she served as Church Administrator.
Her early education was at Brighton Elementary School and High School, later graduating from Jones Valley High School as a proud member of the Class of 1979.
Wanda’s early career involved working many years in management for Walmart. Her latter years were spent with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where she retired in 2022 after more than 30 years of service.
Wanda was a planner as she loved scheduling events, including sister trips, domestic and abroad. The final event she helped to plan was the Annual Ashford Siblings Unity Brunch scheduled for February 25, 2023. Her untimely departure from this earth was February 24, 2023.
Wanda’s passion was also that of caregiver. She cared for Mama Ashford until she passed in 2014, as well as other elderly church members.
