Willie Riddle

Obituary Deacon Willie Davis Riddle was born on December 17, 1937 in Woodstock, AL to the late Mr. Jimmy Riddle and Ola B. Lewis. He accepted Christ at an early age and he united into marriage to Mrs. Vera Lee McGruder on December 22, 1978. He was employed by Pullman Standard & Trinity in Bessemer, AL until he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post 332 in Bessemer, AL.  He was a very active and loyal member of First Baptist Church Old Jonesboro and took great pride in his responsibilities until his health failed.  He was Ordained as a Deacon on September 14, 2003 and Father of The Year June 20, 2004.  His favorite past time included watching  his favorite baseball team “Atlanta Braves”, Fishing, Hunting, Gardening, Boating,  Traveling and making lasting memories with his grandkids.  He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 3:28pm. He was proceeded in death by his son Dennis McGruder (7) brothers:  James, Nathaniel, Clyde, Oscar, Herbert, Jimmy, and Simmie Riddle, (2) sisters:  Fannie Mae Lewis and Velee Adams . Those who will always remember and cherish the time spent  with him are his loving and devoted wife , Vera  Lee  Riddle; Brother: Claude(Lois)Riddle, Enterprise AL; ( 3) Daughters: Patricia (David) Summerville, Hueytown, AL ;  Laura Eaton, Bessemer, AL;  Blenda Ector, Detroit, Michigan;( 2) Sons: Henry(Tracey) McGruder,  Bessemer, AL; Willie(LaGertha) Riddle Jr. Detroit, Michigan; (2) Daughter in Laws: Taranjia McGruder of Bessemer, AL and Debra McGruder of Hueytown, AL;  (25) Grandchildren; LaShonta(Marlin), Marsherie (Roderick), Christopher, Tancanekia, MyKia,  Jermaine, Kamira, Micheal, Felicia, Toni, Anthony, Khalil, Shwon, Denise, Unique, Dominic, Ashley, Shawn, Jessica, Brittany, Brandon, David D , David III, Jayvanita, Quincy, Damon, and Myron ; A host of great-grandchidren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted and loving friends.  A special and devoted care-giver and friend Hattie Collins.
